ClassPad: General Skills
This free course is an introduction to all 19 Apps that come bundled with the Casio ClassPad. It is designed to highlight what is possible in each app and make sure that users know the best app to deal with the problem they have to explore or solve. Links to the Casio World Education site are included to add or restore any missing apps or files and also to download the latest operating system for your ClassPad. Suitable for beginners using the Casio fx-CP400 or the fx-CG500 models.

Despite Casio launching the current ClassPad fx-CP400 model in 2013 (with OS v1), bugs are still being discovered in its operating system. Hence it makes sense that whenever a new update is made available by Casio (roughly once a year), users update their ClassPad. This short course shows how to find the OS version of your handheld ClassPad, find the latest OS available from the Casio website and install it on your handheld if required. Some tips are also shared to get the most out of any new ClassPad OS update.

This short course covers how to import and export programs, eActivities and other files into your ClassPad. Whether you use a handheld model, a computer emulator, or the ClassPad app for Android or iOS smartphones and tablets, your needs are covered. Although the course duration is close to 30 minutes, most users can jump to the part(s) relevant for their device and be downloading within minutes.

This short course covers tips to customise your ClassPad so that you can work efficiently and get results the way you'd like to see them. We start by tweaking settings in Main and then move on to setting up Shift Keys in System. Two battery-saving measures are shown followed by steps needed to set a unique Ending Screen. Understanding variables is important to get the most out of ClassPad and their creation, management and deletion is explored. In the final two parts we create and store a mini-function in the library folder so that the function can be used in all ClassPad apps.

Explaining what an eActivity is, or does, is difficult - they can be one of many different things. In this course we start by looking at a range of different eActivities and then move on to their construction. Besides the student favourites - storing formulas in NumSolve strips and 'cascade' style copies of mathematical procedures in Main strips, we also head off the beaten track and make some other types of eActivity. This course assumes basic proficiency with ClassPad.

ClassPad comes with its own coding app called Program using the Casio BASIC language, and this course explains how to use it to extend the functionality of ClassPad. Starting with defining new functions in Main, we move on to creating open programs in eActivity and finish up creating simple programs in the Program application. Along the way we'll brush up on general coding skills and share a few tips and tricks to get the most out of the Program app. Basic proficiency will be assumed in (i) knowing your way around ClassPad and (ii) having some general coding skills.

Information about our courses

COURSE ACCESS, PAYMENTS AND REFUNDS

Only one course/invoice per payment is possible by credit card, unless a group booking (see below). Multiple courses can be paid for via one bank transfer, but you must email us a list of the courses so that we can assign the payment to your courses.

Access to a course is granted (i) immediately after credit card payment (a small fee to cover merchant charges will be incurred) or (ii) once bank transfer, with invoice number, appears in our bank. No other payment methods, such as PayPal, Afterpay, etc, are supported.

Bank transfers may take several days to be acknowledged since payments can take several days to reach our bank and we're not able to check our bank statement daily. They must include our invoice number so that we know which user and course the payment is for. Once payment appears in our bank, we'll send an email to confirm access to the course.

After making a credit card payment (or receiving our email if using bank transfer) go to My Courses page and start your course.

You can request a refund within 48 hours from the time you are granted access to a paid course. You cannot get a refund after this time or if you've accessed more than one-third of the course parts.

INVOICES AND CERTIFICATION

Invoices and participation certificates for all courses available when logged in to website - use the drop down arrow on Go To Course button to see. After card payment (or bank transfer acknowledged) invoice will automatically update to reflect payment and any associated card fee.

ENROLMENT DURATION

Enrolling in a paid course gives you access to all course videos and support materials for one calendar year from the date of your payment. Course enrolment will automatically lapse after 28 days if not paid or if free course not started.

GROUP BOOKINGS

Authorised individuals (e.g., Math Heads of Departments, etc.) can make group bookings for their staff/students and attract discounts up to 50% on course fees. Login and follow the instructions on our website to start a group booking and see pricing. Group bookings can be cancelled at any time before payment and will automatically lapse after 21 days if not paid. Once paid, no refund for a group booking is possible.
